International Symposium on Innovative Management and
Governance of Organizations

Innovation in “Service, Organizations and Society”
in Emerging Countries

The organizational, technological and societal changes are imperative for both developed and emerging economies. These changes take the form of innovations often tackled under the economic angle based on the principle of « the creative destruction » advanced by Schumpeter in 1942. However, innovations can also be studied under the social and development lense. In an environment that evolves rapidly, companies are ought to integrate innovation in their development strategy in order to remain competitive. Innovations matter for all organizations, whether private or public, of a big or of a more modest size.

In a context of budgetary restrictions to which public organizations (state and local communities) are subject to, innovation is an important lever of enhancement of efficacy and efficiency of the public action as well as of the quality of public services. As public organizations are constrained to « do better with less », public innovation appears to be a suitable way for embracing environmental transformations. Public innovation enables the increase of public action’s legitimation through answering best the needs of citizens.

This international symposium, aimed to be a unique platform for exchanges and reflections on the future economy, is organized by Le Laboratoire de Stratégie et Management des Organisations (Laboratory of research on Strategy and Management of Organizations) of l’Ecole Nationale de Commerce et de Gestion de Settat – Université Hassan 1er (Morocco), in partnership with the ISEOR research center of l’IAE – Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 and the Namur Digital Institute research center – Université de Namur. The aim being, on the one hand, to shed light on major contemporary problems and, on the other hand, to highlight technological, organizational, institutional and societal innovations coming from emerging economies. This international symposium intends to enable propositions and explorations of alternative models and to stimulate experience sharing between academics and professionals from different countries.
